Terms and Conditions

• SpendTune is a personal expense tracker. It is not a bank, a payment app or a financial adviser, and it cannot move money.
• Your data lives only on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes it. Exporting backups is your responsibility.
• Reading payments from notifications is optional and not guaranteed. It does not work on every phone or in every app, so SpendTune may miss a payment or read one wrongly. Manual entry is always available, and you should check what SpendTune records.
• SpendTune Pro is sold through Google Play, and Google Play handles billing, cancellations and refunds.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, and able to enter into a binding contract. You may use SpendTune only on a device you own or are authorised to use, and only to track your own finances or finances you are authorised to manage.

StarlithLab grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use SpendTune on Android devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in line with these Terms and the Google Play Terms of Service.

SpendTune, including its code, design, text, graphics and the SpendTune name and logo, is owned by StarlithLab or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms don't give you any ownership of it. Open-source components included in the app are licensed under their own terms, and nothing in these Terms limits your rights under those licences.

SpendTune helps you record, categorise and understand your spending, income, budgets, goals, subscriptions and shared expenses.

SpendTune is not:

• a bank, a payment service, a UPI app or a wallet. It cannot make, receive, approve, reverse or move any payment, and it never connects to your bank or payment accounts;
• financial, investment, tax, legal or credit advice. Figures, summaries, budgets and suggestions are for your personal information only. For decisions that matter, talk to a qualified professional;
• an official record. Your bank and payment provider statements are the authoritative record of your transactions.

SpendTune works alongside other apps, such as payment apps, banking apps and SMS apps, but it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any bank, payment app, card network or messaging app. Their names and logos belong to their owners.

If you allow it, SpendTune can try to recognise payments in the notifications that payment apps, banking apps and your messaging app show on your phone. This is an optional convenience, not a promise. We do not promise that it will work on your phone, Android version or manufacturer's software, with any particular bank, payment app or message format, or at all. By its nature, it depends on things outside our control:

• Notifications can be late, missing, muted, grouped, hidden or changed. This can be caused by the other app, by your Android version (for example, some versions hide notifications that contain one-time passwords), by battery-saving features or by your phone's manufacturer, which may stop SpendTune running in the background or stop it reading notifications at all.
• Other apps can change their notification wording at any time, and SpendTune may then read an amount, merchant, direction or date incorrectly, or not at all.
• Reports of the same payment from several sources may be combined, or two separate payments may be treated as one. SpendTune keeps the underlying evidence so you can review and separate them.

Please review what SpendTune records. Detected payments are saved for your review, and you are responsible for confirming, correcting or deleting them. We don't guarantee that SpendTune will capture any particular transaction, every transaction or every detail correctly, so don't rely on it for a complete record. Manual entry is always available and is the dependable way to keep your records.

Some features need Android permissions, such as notification access, display over other apps and notifications. Each one is optional, is explained before you're asked, and can be removed at any time in Android settings. SpendTune does not ask for location, contacts or SMS permission; people are picked with Android's own contact picker. A feature may stop working without its permission, but the rest of SpendTune will continue to work. See Section 12 of the Privacy Policy for the full list.

• Your data belongs to you. Everything you record in SpendTune is stored on your device, and we don't claim any rights to it.
• It exists only on your phone. SpendTune has no cloud sync, and your data is excluded from Android's automatic cloud backup. If you uninstall the app, clear its storage, reset or lose your phone, your data will be lost unless you have exported a backup. Export backups regularly (Settings → Backup & restore) and keep them somewhere safe, especially before changing phones.
• Protecting your backups. Unless you set a backup password, anyone who has a backup file can open it with SpendTune, on any phone: the format stops it being read as plain text, but it is not a lock. If you set a backup password and forget it, nobody — including us — can open the backups made with it. CSV, Excel and PDF exports are not encrypted at all. Store all of these files carefully.
• Automatic backups (SpendTune Pro) are written into a folder you choose. Check from time to time that they are being written; the Backup screen shows when the last one succeeded.
• Keep your device secure. Use a screen lock and keep Android up to date. We can't protect data on a device that is unlocked, shared, rooted or compromised.
• Erase all data in Settings and uninstalling are permanent. We can't recover data for you, because we never had a copy. Neither one cancels a SpendTune Pro subscription.

You agree not to:

• install or use SpendTune on another person's device, or use it to read another person's notifications, messages or financial information, without their knowledge and permission;
• use SpendTune for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose;
• copy, modify, distribute, sell or rent SpendTune, or make derivative works from it, except as the law or an applicable open-source licence allows;
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble SpendTune, except to the extent the law expressly allows this despite this restriction;
• bypass, disable or interfere with SpendTune Pro's purchase verification, or any security or technical protection in the app;
• interfere with or disrupt the services SpendTune relies on, or use automated means to abuse them.

SpendTune Pro is an optional upgrade. The features it includes, its prices and any trial are shown in the app before you buy. Pro is sold as a monthly or a yearly subscription, each of which renews automatically.

The free plan. Manual entry, Activity, Reports, search, budgets, Needs review and backing up and restoring by hand are free. The free plan includes a set number of payments captured from notifications each month and a set number of some items, such as custom categories and accounts; the current limits are shown in the app. A payment captured after the monthly limit is still saved to Needs review — it is never discarded — and you can file it by hand.

If Pro ends. When a subscription ends, nothing you created is hidden, locked or deleted. Pro features stop for anything new — for example, automatic backups and daily and weekly reports stop, and items limited on the free plan can't be added past the free limit — but everything already recorded, attached or backed up stays yours and stays editable.

Billing. All purchases are made through Google Play and charged to the payment method on your Google account. They are subject to the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Play's billing and refund policies. Prices are shown in your local currency by Google Play and may include applicable taxes. StarlithLab never receives your payment details.

Automatic renewal. A subscription renews at the end of each billing period, at the current price, until you cancel. If a free trial is offered, it becomes a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in the Google Play Store app, under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for. Uninstalling SpendTune does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds. Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policies. You can request one through Google Play, and you may also contact us. Except where Google Play's policies or applicable law require otherwise, payments are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for partially used periods. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund right that consumer law gives you.

Price changes. We may change prices for future periods. Google Play will notify you in advance, and where required, ask you to accept the new price before it applies.

Restoring purchases. Pro is tied to the Google account you bought it with. On a new device or after reinstalling, use Restore purchases on the SpendTune Pro screen while signed in to that Google account. Restoring brings back Pro only, not your transactions: those come back from a backup, under Backup & restore. If SpendTune cannot confirm your subscription — for example because it cannot connect — the free plan's limits apply until it can; nothing you have added is hidden or removed.

Changes to Pro. We may add, improve or change Pro features over time. If we stop selling Pro, we won't remove access you have already paid for during your current subscription period.

We may release updates that fix problems, improve SpendTune or add, change or remove features. Some updates may be required to keep using the app, for example to fix a serious problem. A required update never deletes your data. We don't promise that SpendTune will always be available, work on every device or Android version, or be free of errors or interruptions. We may stop offering SpendTune, and if we do, we'll try to give you reasonable notice so that you can export your data.

SpendTune relies on services provided by others, including Google Play, Google Firebase and RevenueCat, as described in the Privacy Policy. Your use of Google Play is governed by Google's own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, apps or websites, or for how the payment, banking and messaging apps on your phone present their notifications.

If you send us ideas, suggestions or feedback, you allow us to use them to improve SpendTune without any obligation to you. We won't publicly identify you as the source without your permission.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SpendTune is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. This includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't warrant that notification-based capture will work on your device, that SpendTune will capture every transaction, that its records, calculations or summaries will be complete or accurate, or that your data can't be lost.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• StarlithLab is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, savings or goodwill, or for any financial decision you make based on SpendTune, arising from or related to your use of SpendTune;
• StarlithLab's total liability for any claim relating to SpendTune or these Terms is limited to the amount you paid for SpendTune Pro in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that can't be excluded or limited under applicable law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify StarlithLab against claims, losses and reasonable costs made by third parties that result from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of SpendTune. For example, this applies if you use it to access someone else's information without permission.

You can stop using SpendTune at any time by uninstalling it. If you have a subscription, cancel it in Google Play as well.

We may suspend or end your licence to use SpendTune if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms. Because your data is on your device, ending the licence doesn't give us access to it, and you can still export it before you uninstall.

Sections 3 (ownership), 7, 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18 continue to apply after these Terms end.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app before they take effect. If you keep using SpendTune after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to the next paragraph, the courts at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts or consumer forums where the law allows.

Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us first. Most concerns can be resolved quickly and informally.

• Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and StarlithLab about SpendTune.
• Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
• No waiver. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up.
• Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, as long as your rights are not reduced.
• Google Play. These Terms are between you and StarlithLab, not Google. Google is not responsible for SpendTune or its content.
